MM2H stands for Malaysia My Second Home, a program that allows non-Malaysians to live in Malaysia for an extended period of time. The MM2H program is a way for foreigners to stay in Malaysia on a multiple-entry social visit pass. The pass is initially valid for five years and can be renewed.
- Who can apply? Foreigners from countries recognised by Malaysia can apply, regardless of race, religion, or gender.
- Application Criteria : Applicants must meet specific financial and residency requirements. These include:
- A minimum age of 21 or 25, depending on the visa duration
- A fixed deposit requirement
- A minimum property purchase
- Proof of offshore income
- Who applicants can bring? Successful applicants can bring their spouse, unmarried children under 21, and parents over 60.
- What it’s not. MM2H is not a Permanent Residence (PR) Permit, but applicants may be able to apply for permanent residency after a certain period.

Special Economic Zones (SEZ) & Special Financial Zones (SFZ)
Fixed Deposit (FD) – Any banks in Malaysia
- Aged 21 – 49: USD 65,000 and above.
- Aged 50 and above: USD 32,000 and above.
Requirement for FD Withdrawal
- 50% of the total amount for the purchase property after endorsement of MM2H visa, education expenses in Malaysia for children under MM2H, medical expenses and treatment in Malaysia, and domestic travel within Malaysia – Subject to Terms & Conditions.
- Withdrawal can only be done within Malaysia only.
Purchase of Residential Properties after Approval of MM2H Application
- Residential properties in SEZ & SFZ must be purchased from developers and not property agents or existing owners.
- Minimum price is subject to the State Authority – May required the approval/consent from State Authority.
**MM2H visa will be revoked if this rule is not complied by the MM2H participants.
Government Registration/Entry Fee (One-Off)
- RM1,000 for main applicant.
- No participation fee is required for all dependents.
MM2H Social Pass / Visa
- Eligible for 10 years renewable visa along with Multiple-Entry Visa (MEV) for the main applicants and dependents.
- Renewable 5 years of visa will be given after the first 10 years of visa has been collected.
- Government renewal fee: RM300 (not visa fee).
Engagement of Business, Investment Activities or Employment in Malaysia
- Not allowed.
Maid
- Need to get local maid agencies to bring in maid into Malaysia.
